If you'd bothered to read my post I did make her aware of the problem and she wasn't interested. Hence taking matters into my own hands. The problem was solved and we didn't fall out about it. If a dog bites me I'm going to retaliate. Whether you like my solution or not is of no interest to me.

As your friend didn’t seem to see the problem with her little Terrier, you should have been forceful with HER. You should have asked her to put the dog in another room and told her why.

You had NO right — when your friend was out the room, TOO — to back-heel kick that little dog on its nose. That’s animal cruelty, and can be dangerous for a dog!

I said friend, but she was more of an acquaintance. Our husbands worked together at the time. I haven't seen her for years. Unlike her, I wouldn't stand by while my dog bit people but if it did I would be quite happy for them to defend themselves.

The dog was unhurt, a quarrel was avoided and the dog stopped biting my heels. Problem solved.

Have you met those dog owners who call from a distance "Don't worry it doesn't bite" as their dog hurtles towards you looking like it has every intention of doing just that? A dog should always be under it's owner's control.

I used to live next to fields, where this lady kept horses and a couple of pet sheep. One day I heard shouting and she was chasing a dog round the field with a spade because it had gone for her sheep. The air was blue because the dog's owner was standing outside the field on the path talking on his phone, completely unconcerned. If the dog had been shot it's owner wouldn't have had a leg to stand on.

If the dog was unhurt why did it give you a wide berth thereafter?  That doesn’t make sense.

A friend had a small terrier which did that. Eventually I complained because it was painful, but she just shrugged. The dog came at me one day when she wasn't in the room and I back-heeled it right on the nose. She commented after that about how the dog danced round me as opposed to attacking. I kept my mouth shut, but with a little private smirk.

Wow! NO wonder you didn't say anything. If you kicked my dog and found out, you wouldn't be smirking  ! I wonder, were you in HER house? Why go there if the dog was a problem?

He was found guilty of mass murder, I think that constitutes evidence of psychopathy, yes.
