I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Surely not that, if located alive and well, her real family - who have been searching to find her since she disappeared - should just watch her grow up from afar?

Not in the least.  All I am saying is that kidding ourselves that there won't be difficulties if Maddie is found is a non starter.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

"there won't be difficulties if Maddie is found."

And I laid many of those out very clearly and in some detail in my first post.   Both Madeleine and her family will need a considerable amount of counselling / support, and the longer she is away, the more support they will need.  As she is a Ward of Court, her future will be decided by the court, and a Court Welfare Officer, in the High Court a Guardian ad Litem, will be involved to look at all aspects of the situation and how to best cope with the problems that will inevitably arise.  To dismiss the idea that there will not be a lot of problems is to be very naïve

I note no-one has responded to some of the specific questions I raised about on-going contact with her past life!   Will the last 6 years be kept as part of her future life, or attemptedly wiped out? eg re friends, clothes, toys, the family themselves?   How much will Madeleine's wishes influence what will happen? Dealing with these sorts of situations is NEVER simple

I'm not quite sure what your underlying concern is.

That some Internet posters assume she will simply come home on the next plane to her bedroom and open her fourth birthday presents as if nothing had ever happened after so long for such a young child doesn't seem very realistic to me, but do you think that the McCann family aren't aware of the issues and will disregard them (if that were even possible)?

Well, unfortunate to bring up the subject again, but the lack of realism of the parents with regard to leaving young children unattended out of sight and hearing, in spite of the training they should have had as medical personnel and the experience of the dangers to young children if unsupervised (nothing to do with abduction, but to do with the simple dangers to youngsters in the home) and their lack of awareness and disregard of those dangers do not give me much confidence in their assessments of situations.

Take a step back, perhaps?

Could you be unintentionally blending your objective stance of reuniting children with their families with a subjective one based on having left them to sleep in the apartment?

The family have sought advice on how to explain the situation to the twins... so I don't see any objective reason why they wouldn't do so if she is found.

No, my view on the children being left alone is also objective as well as being based on experience.  And explaining the situation to the twins is going to be mighty difficult.

Madeleine herself, if she was abducted, can't but have felt abandoned. Where were you etc. ?

Are you suggesting that the parents have never explained the initial situation to the twins?

They are going to have access to the Internet, if they don't already. And older siblings of kids that they know probably also do have access.

Some people gloat that the twins will suddenly understand the "truth" about the weirdest theories touted as fact.

What are your opinions on that?

The McCann's will still be involved from the second she is found. Anyone who thinks they won't is deluded.

I just hope the guardian ad litum will be better than the one we had, re foster child!

Of course the parents have explained the situation to the twins - I never suggested they haven't.   But talking to 8 year olds and to teenagers is very different.  So is saying what you want to say as the introduction to the subject (which you can control) and answering questions (which you cannot control)   I agree about the access to the internet - I have raised this point myself a number of times elsewhere.  And this is also why questions will arise, I suspect.   I think the McCanns will find it more and more difficult as the twins grow older.

I don't "gloat" at all - I hope you were not implying that.   I just state things as I see them

What makes you think she will be found alive ?

There has not been one trace of her since she disappeared.

Clearly the removal of her asap from such a (paedophile gang) scenario is vital, perhaps not allowing the gradual build up of contact outlined previously; although another possibility is that she would be taken to a Children's home initially either in the country where she is found, especially if language is a factor, or in the UK and then prepared for a possible return to her parents after assessment and possible treatment, depending on her situation, mental state etc. Coping with this will be horrendously difficult - you hardly need me to spell it out. How well Kate and Gerry would cope (from what we have seen of them on videos) without an enormous amount of support is anybody's guess. The twins also would need very careful handling and counselling - how much to tell them, how to answer their questions, how to deal with the inevitable premature knowledge of sexual matters etc etc. Again, if English is no longer Madeleine's first language she will need someone who can communicate fully with her - or maybe the parents would be willing to learn whatever language is necessary - that would be a good thing.

Have you been part in a "reunification" in this scenario, CPN ? Or have you professionally heard of one case that would allow to evaluate the chances of normal life after in the case of such a young child taken away from her family ?
Is it reasonable to think that Madeleine built her resilience around the solid awareness of who she was ? Or couldn't she but adapt to circumstances renouncing to be Madeleine in order to survive ?
After so many years, yes, the questions you raise gained weight and can't be treated as secundary. When Mr Redwood says there's a good chance Madeleine is alive, what image is in his head ? If he has one (image !). And what is the representation of the public ? The virtual smiling Madeleine who inspires serenity of the aged photo ?

Lets be realistic chaps.  There is no trail, there has never been a sighting of her and there are no suspects.  What does that tell you in all honesty?
